Are you one of those people that has absolutely no patience to sit and dry your nails after a pedicure (I am)? Nails don't grow (mine don't)? You have always wanted to wear that beautiful dark color (hot right now in fashion) on your nails but just can't be bothered with the weekly maintenance of touching them up (yup, me too)? Like having your nails done but don't want to make the effort to go every couple of weeks (I hate going)? I know I sound like an infomercial but all these things are now forgotten with BioSculpture Nail Gel. NO, I am not talking about that cheesy thick nail gel often used at salons that's buffed and buffed and filed, this is different. I am VERY excited about this!
Yes, that's what I said. Excited yet? Read on...
I had my treatment done at the Paul Edmonds Salon in Knightsbridge. Although they were 20 minutes late, they were extremely apologetic and nice about it and didn't rush me out when my treatment was done. My treatment was with Paulene who was so sweet and a pleasure to spend an hour with.
- Paulene first wanted to soak off the one nail I had done at the show. To do this she used a special gel remover soaked on a cotton pad, placed it on the nail, and then wrapped tin foil around it to keep it secure. This was on for 10 minutes and she literally just lightly scraped the gel off, no damage was done to the nail.
- Then she gave me a dry manicure cutting my cuticles and filing. If hands were soaked in water and soap then the treatment wouldn't adhere so best do your own at home manicure (I will do a post on this at some point) after.
- She then dried off the nails with a little non-acetone remover and applied the thin layer of clear gel with a paint brush to each nail. Each hand sat in the UV light dryer for 2 minutes and then they were completely dry.
- Then she applied the first layer of the color gel (I used #74 for a dark red, but next time I am going to try #20 which is even darker) on to three nails at a time on one hand, then had me put them in the dryer for 2 minutes again while she did the other hand. The reason for this is if you have the gel wait too long in the air, the gel can slip and shrink off.
- Then the process is repeated again for a second coat of color.
- After that, she applies a clear gel on each nail which dries for 2 minutes.
- A top coat polish is applied, dried for 2 minutes and you're done. DONE! You can dig in to your bag, grab your credit and head out!
This is why Biosculpture is SOOO great!
- Your nails won't chip or dull from ANYTHING, even sand at the beach - I hate that! (see my post next week on floating and I proved it right). However, stay away from acetone polish remover. I hit my nail yesterday on something hard by accident and nothing happened.
- Your dry time is immediate so it's great for toes in winter. Bye bye cold feet in flip flops (for us city folks)
- This will not damage your nails underneath or look thick like you have something extra on your nails.
- You can refill after 2 - 4 weeks, they basically will just apply color to the bottom near your cuticle so it doesn't look too thick. You can also try this yourself by lightly buffing the part that meets your natural nail when it grows out and buy one of their matching nail polishes to fill in the area.
- If you have a set of pale nails done and want to go dark at night, you can use ANY nail polish and top coat of a darker shade and go over. Remove with non-acetone polish remover and your shiny perfect nails will still be underneath. Love this!
- If you have trouble growing your nails, they will now grow with this because the gel protects them from breaking.
The cost is not cheap (about £50 - not sure about US prices), but it lasts a long time. Oh, and one small piece of advice...be very careful not to smudge when you're in the drying machine, you'll have to start all over again with that particular nail (yup, I did that too)!
