Juicing
I was at a spa a few months ago with my Mom when I was suddenly inspired by the juice bar to change my life and start juicing. That week I called up a company I found on Google called UK Juicers and asked them to tell me what juicer was very easy to use and most importantly easy to clean. With out thinking twice they suggested the Champion 2000 and offered to match any lower prices on the Internet. Ironically a week before this my Mother's nutritionist suggested the exact same one (yes, it can be found both in the US and UK). It's SO easy to use! I actually slice up fruits and veggies daily and get my suggested servings (and more). The clean up is VERY easy. It's just a matter of a little warm water and a good faucet spray or a soft dish brush, it will take less than 5 minutes to clean up. The actual machine is very heavy because of it's very powerful engine, but the pieces you clean are small plastic pieces that slide right off! It has a blank screen you can use for making sorbet, sauces and peanut butter which works great! It's also a 'Masticating' juicer so its chewing action gives a more nutritious drink. It does this without losing any of the speed and convenience associated with a centrifugal juicer, so it really does offer the best of both worlds.

The only negatives to this juicer in my opinion is....

  • There  is no spout so the juice comes through a wide screen and you have to put something under there (I use a small measuring cup) to catch the juice. The juicer itself is too low to put a glass under it so you then have to transfer the juice to your drinking glass.
  • The other negative is the weight because you really won't put it away every time you use it or you won't ever use it again. It does take up a lot of counter space but if you use it every day and have the space, totally worth it.
  • You also can't put whole pieces of fruit in there, like a whole apple, you do have to cut it down in to fours.

My Favorite Juice:

Anything with apple. Love Apple, Watermelon, Lemon, Strawberry, cucumber, carrot for detox. When I have a tummy ache, I use a little apple, ginger and mint - I throw it all in the juicer and it really calms my stomach and it tastes great warm too! Adding a little sweet potato to tart juice sweetens it up a bit and it's good for you (I know it sounds gross but it's really good, believe me!! I'm a picky eater). This summer I cut up a lot of fruit and berries, froze them and then I let them soften slightly, put in the blank screen and in 5 minutes you have sorbet (make sure all fruit is skinned when doing this except berries of course).

Your stomach takes some time to get adjusted to the daily fruit, but then it settles and I promise you will feel amazing!
